Student Affairs Assessment Leaders (SAAL) is a national community of practice comprised of educators, practitioners, researchers, and advocates committed to advancing meaningful, equity-centered assessment in student affairs. Our members represent diverse roles, institutions, organizations, non-profits, and perspectives but we share one goal: to use assessment as a tool to improve the student experience and promote learning, success, and equity.

Membership is open to individuals who:
Lead or support student affairs assessment work at any level, from divisional coordination to program-specific projects.
Serve on divisional or cross-campus assessment committees or teams.
Hold roles in higher education or non-profit/public sectors directly related to assessment, research, or evaluation.
Teach, study, or conduct research in higher education assessment (including graduate students and faculty).
Are exploring student affairs assessment as a professional interest or career pathway.
Have previously worked in student affairs assessment and wish to remain engaged in the community, whether currently job-seeking, working in a different campus role, or employed in an education-related public/non-profit setting.

Our Community Guidelines
The SAAL listserv and online community exist to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and support one another in advancing equity-centered student affairs assessment. We are a space for collaboration, resource sharing, and professional growth not for solicitation or sales.
To protect this supportive environment, we do not include or accept members whose primary role is selling products or services to higher education, including those employed by commercial, for-profit vendors. This ensures that discussions remain peer-to-peer, focused on learning, problem-solving, and the free exchange of ideas without commercial influence.
